TGSD-L is generally an unmoderated e-mail list. Posts made by members go directly to the list without prior review. This is a cooperative endeavour. To maintain an environment conducive to the purposes of TGSD-L please review the guidelines below.

By using this messaging system you agree to abide by the following policies:

a) Posts to TGSD-L have the copyright of the original author and no material may be transmitted to non-members of TGSD-L without the permission of the author.

b) To conserve band width we ask that you keep signatures to no more than four (4) lines and refrain from quoting more material from previous posts than is absolutely necessary to put your reply in context.

c) We do not accept attachments such as images or files and we strip all formatting characters. Please send your messages to TGSD-L in plain text. Messages received with HTML or other formatting will undergo a filtering process which may reject the message in its entirety.

d) TGSD-L is intended to offer education about the breed. No commercial advertising of any kind will be tolerated.

e) We reserve the option to change a list member’s status to ‘moderated’.

From time to time a GSD needs to find a new home. TGSD-L fully supports rescue activities conducted by the following non-profit 501(c)3 public charity rescue organizations:

1. Coastal German Shepherd Rescue in Southern California

2. German Shepherd Rescue of Northern CA

3. German Shepherd Rescue of New England, Inc.

Members of these organizations who are also members of TGSD-L are invited to post available dogs directly to the list. 

Any other source, such as messages forwarded across the Internet or posts copied from PetFinder or other such resources are not acceptable. If you feel strongly about publicizing a specific re-homing request please submit your message to admina@ellerbach.com for review.

An owner surrender is any dog 12 weeks old or older who is owned by a member of TGSD-L and is made available for re-homing. All post concerning such dogs must be submitted for approval to admina@ellerbach.com. We will evaluate each request based on its own merits.

In the event that a successful placement was facilitated via announcement on TGSD-L we expect the surrendering owner to make a donation to one of the rescue organizations listed above. We will subsequently post a public Thank-You for your contribution to GSD rescue.

a) Litter announcements are accepted for GSDs only. Birth announcements for other species or breeds may not be posted.

b) Posts about matings may not be made.

c) The litter must have been whelped by a member of TGSD-L in good standing. Members on moderated status may not post litter ads.

d) All litter announcements must be submitted to admina@ellerbach.com for review. They must include the following information:

1. Grandparents: Full registered name, registry and registration number, titles and designations.

2. Parents: Full registered name, registry and registration number, titles and designations.

3. Litter size - number of males and females - live birth or surviving.

4. Breeder’s full name, kennel name, address and phone number. Please include either a link to your Website or to some other resource on the Internet where list members can review the information provided.

e) Requesting to post a litter ad on TGSD-L is entirely your choice. When you exercise this option, we ask that you make a donation to one of the three rescue organizations listed above. The minimum donation is $5.00 per live pup or $30.00 per litter, whichever is less. Of course, more is always better.

We will release your litter announcement when we receive verification of your contribution. You can forward to admina@ellerbach.com the Payment Confirmation Notice from PayPal or any other electronic communication which confirms the contribution.

We will post a public Thank-You to acknowledge your contribution to GSD rescue.
