We store our clothes in plastic bins under the
bed. Retrieving them had always been an adventure of
bending, kneeling, crawling and general acrobatics which
really weren't all that much appreciated by our middle
aged bodies. We had tried a variety of methods involving
of ropes tied to bins but none were really very
functional until we remembered the KISS approach, keeping
it simple. Here then is our highly sophisticated storage
bin retrieval system. |
We cut notches in the
ends of a piece of PVC pipe, then threaded a length of
cotton rope through the pipe. The rope is wedged into
the notches to keep it from pulling out.

To retrieve the bins,
pull on both rope ends. The PVC pipe keeps the rope from
slipping under the rear bin. To replace the bins, just
push the front bin back under the bed. The pipe takes
the rope ends with it since they're held in the notches.
